Expanding Economic Opportunities for Women

Women are disproportionately impacted by the effects of climate change, and even when they have access to energy, women don’t benefit economically at the same rate as their male counterparts
There can be no just energy transition, nor an end to energy poverty, without women’s economic advancement.

Environmental sustainability, energy access, and women’s empowerment are all deeply interconnected issues.

By bringing together the rapidly expanding clean energy sector and women’s economic empowerment programs, GEAPP is combining investments in energy access, emissions reduction, and gender equity. These programs will deliver near-term positive impacts for women while also building gender-balanced renewable energy sectors around the world.

GEAPP Targets

Women will represent 50% of owners, leaders, and employees in supported energy companies

Women will represent 50% of entrepreneurs and productive users of energy within green energy interventions
