Who we are

We work for a world where everyone has access to abundant, reliable, clean electricity and the means to use it to improve their lives.

The challenge

Jobs, education, modern healthcare, thriving economies: In today’s world, these all depend on access to energy. Yet, nearly 700 million people live without electricity and billions more live with access that is unaffordable or unreliable.

For lower- and middle-income countries, renewable energy represents an unparalleled route to economic growth, energy independence and security. But only a fifth of global clean energy investment goes to emerging markets and developing economies today.

No one can tackle these challenges alone. In the face of climate change, global instability and constrained funding, we urgently need a bold new model of collaboration.

Our approach

Global Energy Alliance was created for this moment. Together, we build transformative public, private, philanthropic partnerships to end energy poverty and accelerate green economic opportunity.

With more than 50 global partners, including governments, investors, development banks, community groups and philanthropies, we convene the right actors with the right expertise to match the challenges we face. These tailored, multi-sectoral partnerships engage every part of the value chain from households to heads of state.

By pooling resources and expertise, we can unlock investments, upskill workforces, overcome regulatory and financial bottlenecks and reshape entire energy systems. The Global Energy Alliance doesn’t just deliver projects. We drive lasting, systemic impact.

Our global pillars

Our work is anchored in two mutually reinforcing pillars – Grids of the Future, focused on infrastructure and innovation – and Powering Opportunity, which focuses on jobs and livelihoods.

Grids of the Future and Powering Opportunity are two sides of the same transformation. Modern, digitalized grids enable the reliable integration of renewables and battery storage at scale. Powering Opportunity ensures that this reliable power translates into productive demand – through tools, finance and market linkages that allow farms, firms and entrepreneurs to grow. As demand rises, utilities strengthen revenues and cost recovery, reinforcing grid sustainability. Together, supply-side modernization and demand-side activation create a virtuous cycle of investment, reliability and economic growth.

Together, through these two pillars, we Change Energy and Change Lives
