We work for a world where everyone has abundant electricity and the means to use it to improve their lives.

Global efforts to tackle energy poverty have made immense strides in recent decades. But progress has stalled. Today, nearly 700 million people live without electricity and a billion more live with access that is unaffordable or unreliable. It is a deficit that holds back development, raises the cost of doing business and suppresses economic growth.

A new approach is urgently needed.

Global Energy Alliance

Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet builds transformative public, private, philanthropic partnerships to accelerate clean energy and economic opportunity in emerging economies.

Founded in 2021 by The Rockefeller Foundation, IKEA Foundation and Bezos Earth Fund, ou adaptable, alliance-driven approach means we tailor our support to fit the contexts where we work. Our partnerships, technical support and catalytic investments allows us to deliver progress that goes beyond individual projects to drive lasting systems change.

Central to our approach are two interconnected global pillars: Grids of the Future, which strengthens energy supply by building AI-enabled, renewables-ready power systems; and Powering Opportunity, which adresses energy demand, helping communities and countries harness clean energy to power business, create jobs and drive economic growth.

Change Energy, Change Lives

Clean energy has the power to transform lives. When paired with the right investments, equipment and training, it creates jobs, improves health and education, builds industries, makes families safer and helps communities and economies thrive.

We put people at the heart of everything we do. These are the stories of their success.
